Character  /Architectural Drawings    14 & up        9am-1pm            June 24-27

In this week’s workshop students will learn about capturing a city scape, perspective, people in action and how to create an intriguing composition or narrative. Drawing people or structures with a focus on unique details and characteristics. They will make graphite studies then enhance their drawings or turn them into paintings. We will take a day or two trip(s) into Boston(via commuter rail) to make studies and continue back at the studio the other days.

Portfolio worthy                                    9am-1pm        July 8-11

or student's chosen project*

Working up studies first to formulate a winning idea, students will learn how to choose and map out a portfolio worthy piece. Utilizing group brainstorming, teacher input as well as studying successful artists, they will create a piece that shows skill, mastery of medium, intrigue and/or narrative. Students may work on one or multiple related works.

Create a book                                       9am-1pm        July 15-18        or student's chosen project*

Students will learn how to turn their ideas into a simple story and illustrate it with unique art work, create a comic strip or make a book for journalling. Whatever the choice, students will learn how to plan and then execute their ideas to a final finished piece by tapping into their imagination and investigating how narrative and art intersect.
